The Lake Level Monitoring Project at AGU

From December 11-15, members of the Lake Level Monitoring Project team travelled to New Orleans to participate in the American Geophysical Union (AGU) fall meeting.

More than 20,000 people attended the meeting, which is the largest earth and space science meeting in the world.

We had the opportunity to share the Lake Level Monitoring Project with attendees through a poster titled Citizen and Satellite Measurements Used to Estimate Lake Water Storage Variations. The poster highlighted what we’ve learned about our study lakes since we began measuring their heights in February 2017. It also shared what we’ve learned about our citizen scientists, including why they participate and whether or not their measurements are accurate (spoiler: they are very accurate).

We will be sharing all of these findings through this blog and our newsletter after the new year, so be sure to sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date.

We share stories about the lakes in our study, our partners and volunteer citizen scientists, as well as interesting results from our research.
